When we started this farm, we knew we needed the perfect name.

Something meaningful. Something that represented self-sufficiency, growing our own food, reconnecting with the land...

So naturally, I let my husband pick.... so, Freedom Seed Acres. Blame him.

Before you start imagining some beautifully poetic story about planting seeds of freedom and nurturing a new way of life — yes, that explanation exists now because it sounds much better.

The original inspiration?

Let’s just say my husband’s sense of humor is a little more... ballistic.

Freedom Seed is slang for a bullet. Because apparently when you combine a farm, a pun, and letting your husband name things, this is what happens.

But honestly, it fits us.

Freedom Seed Acres is about building a life that’s a little more independent, a little more hands-on, and a whole lot more entertaining than the one we left behind.

Here you’ll find homegrown food, farm animals, handmade goods, old-fashioned skills, and the occasional questionable decision that seemed like a great idea at the time.

Homesteading isn’t always peaceful sunsets and perfectly arranged baskets of vegetables.

Sometimes it’s a goat eating something she shouldn’t, a chicken causing drama, another project added to the list, and standing in your kitchen wondering why you own this many canning jars.
